Resume

Baihua Xiao received the B.E. Degree in automatic control from Northwestern Polytechnical University in 1995, and Ph.D. degree in pattern recognition and intelligent systems from Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 2000. He was a post-doctor at Institute of Acoustics, CAS during 2000-2002, and “Brain-Korea 21thCentury” research fellow at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) during 2002-2003. After that, he joined Shanghai Datang Mobile Telecom Corp. R&D as a technical manager, and then served Motorola China Research Center as a senior research staff. Currently, he is a professor in the Laboratory of Complex Systems and Intelligence Science at Institute of Automation, CAS.

Pattern recognition, intelligent systems, multimedia information processing and retrieval.

Academic Achievements

He is a professor in the Lab of Complex Systems and Intelligence Science at Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASIA). He is also IEEE member and INCOSE member. His current research interests include pattern recognition, intelligent systems, information retrieval, and intelligent information processing. He has published more than 30 papers, 10 patents.

Current Research

Several projects on text detection, handwritten document recognition and retrieval, visual object category recognition and machine vision in SMT, funded by NSFC, Ministry of Education respectively.
